James Robert Brunkala
Funeral services for James Robert Brunkala DOWNEY-Funeral services were held on Feb. 12 at Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary Chapel for James Robert Brunkala who died Feb. 5 at Southland Lutheran Home in Norwalk at the age of 54.
Brunkala was a native of southern California and a resident of Downey for 28 years. He was born July 13, 1947 in Lynwood to parents James William and Ethel Elizabeth Bodnar Brunkala,
and graduated from St. Pius X High School and Loyola University.
He was employed by the County of Los Angeles for 25 years, the last 20 as a Records System Clerk II with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Known as a computer wizard, he "could do anything on the computer," and often helped people with problems on their computers.
He was a collector of books and had accumulated a large library. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, computer magazines, and history.
He is survived by his parents who reside in Downey, sister Judy also of Downey, brother Jerry Michael (Jacinta) of Palos Verdes Estates, and nephew Joel Brunkala.
Services were officiated by Fr. Peter Coffe of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. Arrangements were by Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
