I had the great fun to sit next to Barb in Fr. Kramer's religion class. As I got to know her, I discovered a gem of a person who kept me laughing with her constant wise cracks. But that is not to take away from the smart, socially aware girl she was also. The summer after graduation, Barb and I took a seminar a LMU that Fr. Kramer had somewhat "pushed" on us. It was full of priests, nuns and other religious. We were TOTALLY intimidated! But still we learned so much from this enriching experience. True to form, on the drive over and back, Barb kept me laughing. I loved that girl! Unfortunately, after I got married and started having babies, I lost touch with her--Why do these things happen!! She was such a charming, kind and loving friend. When Joe informed me at one of his reunions that she had died, I was crushed. What a loss for her family and anyone who knew and loved her. I can still see her with her poufy hairdo and cat-eye glasses, but mostly I'll remember her for her wonderfully goofy sense of humor! RIP my friend.
