David Allen, 65, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at his home.  He was born on February 7l, 1948 in Dubuque, son of Raymond and Delain (Harvey) Allen.  After graduating from Wahlert High School, he served in the Navy Reserves. 

He married Mary Arthofer on September 6, 1969.  He worked for the Dubuque Water Department for 33 years.

David was active in scouting and was an Eagle Scout.  He enjoyed the outdoors and was a NASCAR and country music fan, but enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; two children, Jeff (Rachel) Allen, of Dubuque, and Kerry (Mike) Reuter, of Balltown; five grandchildren, Mike, Mitch and Molly Allen and Ashley and Kimberley Reuter; his mother, Delain; two brothers, Dale (Jan Wolff) Allen, of Dubuque and Don (Lori) Allen of East Dubuque, IL; and nieces, nephews, and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his father; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Artie and Bea Arthofer.
