John M. Burke, 44, died on January 7, 1993 at Finley Hospital as a result of complications of AIDS.  John worked at Sears Roebuck and Co. in Dubuque for many years prior to moving to Miami, where he was a sales representative for a wallpaper distributing company until moving back to Dubuque in September 1992.

John was born on May 28, 1948 in Menominee, Michigan, son of Carl and Grace (Cashin) Burke.  He was a 1966 graduate of Wahlert High School, and attended Loras College in Dubuque.  He was a past member of the Barbershoppers Association Dubuque Chapter and the Nativity Choir.

Surviving are his parents, who live in Dubuque, five brothers, Dr. David (and Marian) of Concord, NC, Daniel (and Janice) and Thomas (and Juanita), both of Dubuque, Dr. William (and Rebecca) of Des Moines, and Joseph (and Debra) of Cedar Rapids, and two sisters, Mary Jo (and Ken) O'Hara of Boise, ID, and Ellen (and Jim) Kaune of Dubuque.
