Richard Finn

Richard Joseph "Dick" Finn, 60, of East Dubuque, peacefully died on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, while surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on January 5, 1948, in Dubuque, son of Bernard and Kathryn (Miller) Finn. He grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Wahlert High School in 1966. Dick served in the Army from 1968 to 1970, as an aerial map specialist stationed in Panama.

On October 21, 1972, he married Suellen Nadermann in Dubuque.  He worked at Wiliam C. Brown Publishing, Times Mirror and Quebecor World for a total of 40 years.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Dick loved to spend time with his family and friends; especially to be surrounded by the constant antics of his three sons.  He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports.  His grandchildren were the light of his life.

Surviving are his wife, Suellen; three sons, Christopher and Nathan Finn, both of East Dubuque, and Andrew (Jessica) Finn, of Hazel Green, WI; his grandchildren, Gabrielle, Paige, Owen and Isabele; a sister, Patricia (Rick) Althaus, of Dubuque; five brothers, Bernard (Mary) Finn of New Berlin, WI; James (Sandra) Finn of Westmont, IL, and Thomas (Sandra), Michael, and David Finn, all of Dubuque; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Debbie) Nadermann, of Dubuque, and Steve Nadermann, of Cedar Rapids, IA; a special sister-in-law, Julie (John) Callahan, of Dubuque, countless nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Finn, in infancy; and his father and mothe-in-law, Leo and Dorothy Nadermann.
