Mariella T. "Mary" Kauffmann Freiburger, 53, of Sunnycrest Manor in Dubuque, died on October 7, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center.  She was born on August 27, 1948, in Dubuque, daughter of Harold and Helen (Hittenmiller) Kauffmann.

She was a 1966 graduate of Wahlert High School.  She formerly worked at Link's Studio and was a member of St. Patrick's parish.  She enjoyed watching movies and joking with friends.  She had a delightful sense of humor that helped her endure the "tough times".  Mary had a passion for chocolate and could be considered a "chocoholic".

Surviving are a daughter, Michelle A. Freiburger (Steve Hopkins) of Mesa, AZ, two sisters, Janet (Paul) Wiedemann and Carol Dohrer, both of Dubuque.  She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Timothy.
