David C. Grutz, 50, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Dubuque, died February 11, 1999 in Indiana.  David was born on September 22, 1948, in Dubuque, son of Leo P. and Betty (Lambert) Grutz.  He married Phyllis Arns on September 22, 1972, in Dubuque.

He graduated from Loras College and was a Vietnam War Army veteran.  David was a Valparaiso resident for more than 20 years.  He worked for Eagle Food Stores for 30 years, managing several local stores.  He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, International Order of Odd Fellows, Harley Owners Group - Valparaiso Chapter, ABATE, and the Knights of Columbus. 

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Krystal and April Grutz of Valparaiso; his mother, Betty, of Dubuque, and two sisters, Sheila Wolter and Linda Green, both of Dubuque.  He was preceded in death by his father.
