Darlene C. Weber Pfab, 57, of Bernard, IA, died March 9, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, following a long, courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side. She was born on December 29, 1947, in Dubuque, daughter of Arnold and Margaret Mary (Cox) Weber.
She married Loras J. Pfab on September 21, 1968, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, near La Motte. Together Darlene and Loras farmed and milked on their family farm in Bernard. She loved to milk the cows and keep records on their production.
She was a member, and served as past president and secretary of the Dubuque County Dairy Association, and was a Farm Bureau member. She also was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Rosary Society, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, especially birthdays and holidays, and traveling with Loras.
Darlene had an amazing outlook on life and this allowed her to enjoy every moment with her family and friends. She never thought of herself dying from cancer, rather, she would live with it. This miraculous determination allowed her to beat the odds more than once and live these last years embracing her family and friends and enjoying all that life had to offer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Loras, of Bernard; their children, Tammy (Luke) Amescamp of Marengo, IL, Sue (Al) Memsen, of Dyersville, Brian Pfab of Farley, Kim (Marv) Lynch, of Cascade, and Dan (fiancée Laura Willenborg) Pfab of Bernard; six grandchildren; and a brother, Bill (Mamie) Weber; and her mother-in-law Mary Pfab, both of Epworth. She was preceded in death by a son, Keith, her parents, and her father-in-law.
