
Robert A. Ploessl, 61, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Dubuque, passed away March 17, 2010, in the emergency room at Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born on August 18, 1948, in Dubuque, son of Alvin and Catherine (Oberfoel) Ploessl. He married Lynne White on August 4, 1973.
Robert proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Milikin University in Decatur, IL with a bachelor's degree in science and was employed as a laboratory technician with ADM for more than 18 years. He also was the owner/operator of Hopper's Shoe Store from 1980 to 1985. Rob was a master woodworker who enjoyed renovating his home and spending time with his . No one could have had a better husband or dad.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lynne; his girls, Bridget Ploessl, Molly Moore and husband Jason, and Robyn Ploessl, all of Decatur; and brothers Richard Ploessl and Joe Ploessl, both of Dubuque, James Ploessl and wife Judy, of Iowa City, and Kevin Ploessl and wife Elaine, of Dalton City, IL. He was reunited in heaven with his parents.
