In Memory

Patrick Reiter

Patrick J. "Pudy" Reiter, 62, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on June 16, 2010.  He was born on February 7, 1948, in Dubuque, son of Eldon and Veronica (Boet) Reiter.

After graduating from Wahlert High School in 1966, Patrick served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War.  As a young man, he painted house interiors and exteriors and did dry walling.  He also worked at Faith United Methodist Church and at the Dubuque Boys Club.  He was a well-known fast pitch softball pitcher.  He pitched for Don's Meats from 1965 to 1969, and for Whalen's Inc., from 1970 until he retired from softball.  He won numerous Iowa State Fast Pitch Tournaments.  He also pitched in several world fast pitch tournaments.  He was inducted into both the Dubuque Fast Pitch Hall of Fame and the Dubuque Kiwanis Hall of Fame.

Pudy was a great artist and painted and sold many of his pictures and miscellaneous artwork.  He enjoyed his time spent with his family and friends, especially at "The Garage" at his brother Mike's, where his friends would come to visit with him and chat for awhile or where he would spend countless hours painting or working on various projects.

Surviving are his brothers, Michael (Karen Spiegelhalter) Reiter and Daniel (Louie) Reiter.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Veronica Reiter.
