In Memory

Michael Wille

Mike and I went to Marquette University for our freshman year and had the time of our lives.  We shared a dorm room and used to slip out the window to go to the bar down the street after hours.  A Japanese friend would call us “Pairs” because we were always hanging out together.  Following our year in Milwaukee, we decided to move to Minneapolis and go to the U of M.  Again, we stayed together and shared a house on Lyndale Avenue with a couple of other friends.  Mike was my closest friend during those years.  He was one of the funniest and most loyal friends I have ever had.  We didn’t see each other after those years but every once in a while I would call him or he would call me to reminisce over old times.   I miss our conversations and still think about him.   He was a unique individual and I miss him.

Mike was a great friend also through the years.  We go back to all of grade school together.  And then Cathedral.  Mike had a difficult life with his illnesses that started all the way back in high school.  Through it all he maintained a great attitude and was a true loyal friend!

I remember sneaking out in his parents car when they were away.  I am not sure if we were even 14 years old?

Mike had a love of life, people, fun, and adventure. He had a great sense of humor; really enjoyed a tune with a good beat and catchy lyrics; loved a good rare steak, Cyndy's rich chocolate cheesecake and, of course, a good party!

From age 13 on he battled Crohn's diseased, which proved to be an unrelenting opponent. I believe we all do the best we can and I know Mike did so. He left behind three children -Joe (43), Jennifer (41), and Joshua (36). There are five beautiful chandchildren whom he never had a chance to meet. The youngest grandson looks and acts so much like Mike, I can't help but smile.

Miss him.

I knew Michael from our grade school days at Holy Rosary. He and I were the shortest guys in our class, so we would often be paired for class pictures, confirmation procession and our graduation procession. Mike would host numerous parties at his home near the school. His folks had a swimming pool, so that was a favorite place to hang out in the summer.

He was a good friend. I miss his smile, laugh, and good natured kidding. May he rest in peace.

Mike was a great friend to me from the Holy Rosary days . We shared great times in scouting , school , skiing and partying too! Mike had that uncanty ability to hold his own in any conversation ...including with parents .I would marvel at how Mike could cause my father to scramble to rationalize his position that contradricted  with Mikes. In Sr. Lawrences Speech class whereupon  my position to support the Civil Rights iniative to pass the voting rights law 50 years ago  was being challenged, I knew my argument had validity when Mike stepped in to bolster my position. I so glad tohave known Mike Wille ...May God Bless Him.
