Revered classmate Kenneth Gibson, 79, has passed away. Kenny died Dec. 19, 2024, in Oxford, Maryland, where he and his wife, Wendy, along with his family, had resided for many years.
We fondly remember Ken as one of the leading figures in our class and an inspiration to everyone who knew him. His remarkable intellect and outgoing personality were matched by his athletic prowess and musical and acting skills. Besides being a member of the National Honor Society, Ken was class vice-president and an active participant in many school organizations.
Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our heartfelt condolences extend to Wendy and the entire extended family.
Many thanks to Joe and Emily DeLorenzi, who found out about Ken’s passing from Ken’s brother, Jay, and alerted us of the sad news.

I send my condolences to Wendy and the family. Ken will be missed.
Ken could do almost everything from academics to sports to music. And, he was he had a special Ken sense of humor--in a good way! He made me laugh.
My husband Barry, and Ralph and Mai Buck traveled to Oxford, MD many years back and saw what great innkeepers that Ken and Wendy were. We had a great time, had delicious food, and of course some good laughs. He and Wendy lived in a beautiful part of Maryland.

To Wendy Gibson and Family: I am so saddened and shocked to know Ken is gone from us, esp. those of us at DHS62. His character, intellect, honesty, and wit was one that caused me to think how thankful I was to be his friend. His presence for three years on our DHS Basketball Team was paramount in the success we earned, and Ken knew how to win -- the right way!
I knew Ken's Mother and Dad, giving me a first-hand intro Ken's upbringing and , wow, being in Mrs. Gibson's English class at DHS made me a better person. She was strict but very kind. Mr. Gibson rarely missed Ken's sports events.
Attending the various DHS 62 Reunions where Ken & Wendy were in attendance made me feel it was worth making the 1,100 mile trip to be there.
Donna can attest that I often spoke of traveling to Oxford, MD, but were never able to do it -- to stay at their Inn.
A fond memory of Ken I remember was during our first basketball game of our Senior year against Clearwater HS at their gym. It took the skill of Kenny Gibson for DHS to win! It was a modern version of "David and Goliath"!
Of course, nothing overshadowed when we won our first three tournaments to qualify for the FLA STATE TOURNAMENT 1962 the very first year we were a full high school - what history that was! Thank you, Ken!
I was blessed by a friend and a life legacy of Ken Gibson.
