About Us

The Dunedin Jr. Falcons (DJF) is a non-profit youth football and cheerleading organization run strictly by volunteers. Our home field and practice facility is located at Dunedin High School in Dunedin, Florida. We are members of the Suncoast Youth Football Conference consisting of 10 organizations all located in Pinellas County (all game locations are located within Pinellas County). Our organization and coaches follow the NFL Junior player Development Program concept which focuses on basic fundamentals of football.

Our goal is not only to provide participants with football and cheerleading skill development, but also to develop the skills needed to address everyday life issues and encourage model citizenship. We promote the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty and pride in our community through an organized and controlled environment to assist in teaching the fundamentals of football and cheerleading as well as character development.
Studies have shown the benefits of participating in organized sports reduce many health risks and deter youth involvement in drugs and gang related activities. DJF provides this opportunity for the children of Dunedin and surrounding communities. We would love to have your child experience this tradition as they grow and develop into mature young adults.

Our board consists of parents and community members that want to give our children a safe place to learn the morals and values associated with organized competitive sports. The executive board members put in 5-10+ hours a week off season and up to 30 hours a week during season. We are all volunteers with no compensation other than the satisfaction that we are providing a place for the children of this community to learn and strive to become decent adults.
Without the volunteer efforts of many people, and the receipt of goods, and finances from our community, we would not be able to provide a program that builds character, pride, and integrity in our athletes. Please thank our sponsors by visiting their establishments regularly

• Curriculum is based on a step-by-step progression format that instructs participants in the basics of football by position.
• The fun and entertaining curriculum is designed to hold a participant’s attention while providing continuous interaction with the instructor and other participants.

• Participants earn points for proper execution of learned techniques as they compete head-to-head by weight class as well as in group competitions

Flag Football and Cheerleading (4-6)
In addition to our traditional contact football and cheerleading programs, Flag football and cheerleading are available. This program is a non-competitive instructional program designed to provide an introduction into organized team sports, teach the basics of football and cheerleading, good sportsmanship, respect and build self-esteem. The flag cheerleaders will perform in the SYFC cheer competition and receive a medal for participation.
It is our very sincere hope that participation in the Dunedin Jr. Falcons will be a rewarding family experience. We invite you, the parent, to take an active part in watching your child become a more confident outgoing and more mature individual through a very intensive team effort.

Tackle Football (ages 7-14)
The objective of the league is to provide a fully organized and controlled football environment in order to teach the fundamentals of both the game itself as well as character development. Good educational habits, teamwork, dedication, and commitment are stressed to all age levels.
Children are separated by age, weight, and skill, with ages ranging from 7-14. A strict age & weight matrix provides that kids participate in the proper division. Games are played at varying locations across Pinellas County.  We have a 10 play minimum for every child in every game.*****(provided the child comes to practice on time, is ready for practice with all required equipment, and displays a good attitude)
The playing season begins with practice at the end of July, and consists of a pre-season jamboree, a 10 game schedule, then concludes with conference playoffs. The conference championship is typically held the weekend prior to Thanksgiving

Cheerleading (ages 7-14)
Participation in cheerleading provides kids an opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised, safety-oriented environment. Children are separated by age and skill, with ages ranging from 7-14. The cheer season begins with practice at the end of July and consists of a pre-season jamboree, a 10 game schedule, then concludes with conference playoffs and conference cheer competition. The conference cheer competition is typically held the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
