Former Durango resident Kevin Bruce Ball died from complications of liver disease Monday, April 28, 2014, at his home in Windsor. He was 51.

Mr. Ball was born to Gary and Barbara (Uribe) Ball on Oct. 20, 1962, in Carson City, Michigan. His father died when he was 4, and his mother and stepfather, Dennis Ball, raised him.

His family moved to Durango when Mr. Ball was a sophomore in high school, and he graduated from Durango High School in 1981. After two years at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, he returned to Durango, earning a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Fort Lewis College in 1986.

In 1986, he married Dee Loudenburg in Durango. The couple had two daughters together before the marriage ended in divorce.

Mr. Ball worked for car dealerships as a general sales manager, owning his own car dealership, Southwest Auto in Cortez. After it was purchased by New Country Auto, now Durango Motor Co., he was the general sales manager there. He worked and lived in other places for periods of time.

In 1994, Mr. Ball married Bobbe Sellers in Durango. The couple had two sons together before the marriage ended in divorce.

Mr. Ball retired while in his late 40s and moved to Windsor about a year ago.

He enjoyed stock car racing, horses, hunting, camping, guns, watching the History Channel and reading books about Native Americans, fishing and golf, his family said.

Mr. Ball is survived by his children Wyatt Ball of Durango and Brittany Ball, Melissa Ball and Garrett Ball, all of Denver; sister, B.J. Uribe-Ball, of Windsor; brother, Daniel Ball, of Ovid, Michigan; and stepfather, Dennis Ball, of Durango.

A family service was held Friday, May 2, 2014, in Windsor. A memorial service will be held in Durango at a later date.
