Great laugh, always willing to help out with anything.A very good friend to many. He loved cars and trucks(FORDS), he was a great mechanic and machinist. He was a very good race car driver too. His family was everything to him.

(A fun memory recalled by Stephanie Matlock)
I had Bret as a partner in science class-we had to dissect a frog together. We both worked on it seriously and then the poor thing with guts open and all began jumping around the table, I was horrified but Bret laughed so hard I thought he was going to stop breathing. In some way it helped me get over the horror of it all. He was a good guy.
