Comments:

After graduating from Beckman, I attended the University of Iowa (GO HAWKS!!) and graduated from there in 1988. I have been teaching ever since. I taught in West Liberty until 1997, then moved on to Center Point-Urbana for 3 years. For the past 9 years, I have been teaching/coaching at Cedar Rapids Prairie. I teach 8th grade American History and I am the head coach of the varsity boys golf team. I have been married for 13 years to my wife Michelle and we have 4 children. I spend most of my "free time" coaching/watching my children play sports. I golf as much as possible- usually at 5 in the morning- long before my wife and kids are up and they don't even know I'm gone! I enjoy going to St. Louis to catch some Cardinal games, but when that's not possible, I get equal enjoyment out of watching the Cubs lose- 101 years and counting- keep up the good work Cubbies!

School Story:

1. I remember at a basketball game senior year, captains of the teams met at halfcourt to meet the referees and the captains of the other team. It's typically pretty nondescript, where you shake hands and introduce yourself. Doug Klosterman was at halfcourt with me for the meeting. I remember being nervous, and when it came time to introduce myself, I introduced myself as Doug Klosterman. Doug looked at me like I was an idiot. I don't think he was sure how to introduce himself after that- I think he said, "I'm Scott Reittinger, and I'm an idiot."

2. I also remember Sister Charmagne's history class junior year. There was a senior who had to repeat the class and he sat right in front of me (I won't say his name). Sister Charmagne asked him what nation did the US drop the atomic bomb on in World War II. He had no clue, so I whispered to him- "Napoleon." I didn't think he'd repeat it. Unfortunately, he did. Sister Charmagne was not amused with either of us.

3. Any time in the "Commons" was great!
