In Memory

Reanne Burke

Sadly we have lost another dear friend and classmate, Reanne Burke. Tragically, Reanne was struck by an automobile while jogging this past Saturday in Longmeadow. I will always remember her as vivacious, funny and extremely talented athletically - in fact, along with her classmates Mike Mineo, Trish Hafey and Rand Willard, Reanne was one of the inaugural inductees into the ELHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.  From her induction ceremony:

"Reanne Burke (1974) lettered in field hockey, basketball and softball all four years of her high school career. She was the leading scorer in field hockey and basketball. Reanne served as captain of her basketball team during her junior and senior years, and  her field hockey team during her senior year as well. She was named MVP for both field hockey and basketball. Reanne was a member of the womens volleyball team that won the 1974 championship. She was the first to win the prestigious Muriel Brown Award. Ree continued her athletic career at Springfield College where she was a three year starter on the softball team, and served as captain during her senior year. She played on the 1977 college World Series team against  UCLA and the Univ. of Michigan. Reanne returned to E.L. high school as the first womens soccer coach. She also coached the E.L.high school JV womens basketball team and the varsity softball team."

Reanne was a talented and devoted oncology nurse. She leaves her mom and five siblings - Donald, Jack, Chuck, Karen and Christopher. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 4-7 at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118.
