I am so sad to let you all know that our dear friend and classmate, Paul Sibley, passed away in Springfield, MA after a brief illness.  When I think of Paul, I think of laughter.  I'm so grateful he was able to make our 35th reunion in 2009.  There will be a wake for Paul on Sunday, October 5th from 4-8 at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home.  His obituary is posted below.  Please post your memories of Paul on his "In Memory" page. 

Paul D. Sibley, 57, a lifelong resident of this town, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Concord, MA, Paul was a dedicated history teacher at Van Sickle Middle School in Springfield for 15 years and took great pride in helping his students achieve their very best. In his spare time during the winter months Paul was always a smiling face at the Ski Haus in East Longmeadow helping families outfit their kids for skiing and snowboard adventures. In the warmer season his true love was spending time as a gentleman farmer, growing vegetables for everyone to enjoy. Paul was also a fixture in the adult softball and hockey leagues and always brought humor and enjoyment to the games. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda S. (Miller) Sibley, two wonderful daughters whom he was exceptionally proud of, Samantha Faith Taha and her husband Mutaz of St. Petersburg, FL, & Morgan Lynn Sibley of East Longmeadow, MA, his mother Barbara Sibley of East Longmeadow, MA, and a brother Stu Sibley, sister in law, Colleen Whitman, and nephews Steven Matter and Andrew Sibley. He was predeceased by his father H. Palmer Pete Sibley. Paul was also loved and respected by his students and by friends too numerous to mention. Family & friends are invited to gather at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, MA, from 4:008:00 PM on Sunday, October 5th, 2014 to celebrate Pauls love of family, friends and life. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Paul Sibley Memorial Fund to support student achievement at Van Sickle Middle School, 1170 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
