George Pitcher

George L. "Gentleman George" Pitcher, 61, of Port Byron, died August 23, 2012 at his home. Private family services will be held. He was born July 20, 1951, in Moline, the son of Ida Harriet Bailey and Lawrence T. Pitcher. He married Laurel Odendahl in 1973. He retired December 31, 2009, after 37 years with John Deere Harvester as a machine repairman. George served six years with the Marine Reserves in the 1970s. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, bike riding, working in his yard and discussing politics. George is survived by his wife, Laurel; sons, Christopher (Abigail) Pitcher, Moline, and Jeffrey Pitcher, Davenport; and brothers-in-law, James Odendahl, East Moline, Thomas (Anita) Odendahl, Fallbrook, Calif., and John (Dianne) Odendahl, San Pedro, Calif. He was preceded in death by both parents.

I knew  George from Silvis Mckinley he was great guy,we wpould go fishing after school by his house at night sometimes on the weekend, he was  a good friend in 7th an 8th grade always happy, even in High School we hung out together he was one cool dude ,  Rip George.
