 A Celebration of Life Service for Ann M. Hunter-Broughton, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the Snow Masonic Lodge, 113 S. Cody Rd. in LeClaire, Iowa. There will be a luncheon following the service. Ann passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf after a long illness.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made in Ann’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. (https://act.alz.org)   

Ann M. Nye was born on September 22, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia, the daughter of Russell and Frances (Fleagle) Nye. She was united in marriage to Lynn Broughton on May 20, 1989, in LeClaire. Ann graduated from United Township High School in East Moline, Illinois in 1969 and Blackhawk College where she earned an Associate’s Degree. 

After college, Ann worked as a Nuclear Technician in contract work for a variety of nuclear power plants throughout the United States.  She later worked as the General Manager for EVAC Fire and Rescue Equipment for a number of years and in recent years, focused her career as a cabinet design specialist with Lowes, Marvin & More, Kitchen By Design and K & K Hardware.     

She was an accomplished quilter and served as Co-Vice-President of the Geneseo Quilting Guild and was a member of the Mississippi Valley Quilting Guild. For 20 years, she and her close friend, Shirlee Peterson hosted "Quilting in the Woods," an annual rural gathering of quilting enthusiasts.  

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Lynn; her daughters, Elizabeth (Shawn) Hunter of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Kristine (Nate) Ziegler of LeClaire and Jamie (Terry) Rentfro of Davenport, Iowa; her grandchildren, Troy (Tiffany), Madison (Jon), Jayden, Haylie and Addison; her great-granddaughter, Tana; her father, Russell (Marilyn) Nye of Davenport; her sisters, Lisa (Mike) Miller of Bettendorf and Gayle Derrick of Moline, Illinois; her brother, Jim (Pam) Nye of Moline; and her first husband, Jim (Diane) Hunter of Andalusia, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances.    

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Senior Star, Genesis Hospice and especially the Iowa Masonic Health Facility for their loving and compassionate care shown to Ann during her illness.
