 Richard H. Bowen, 55, of Mexico Beach, Fla., formerly of Colona, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Military honors will be by Colona American Legion Post 1233.

He was born Aug. 8, 1950, in Findlay, Ohio, to Henry and Betty Duckett Bowen. He married Sherrie Kiely in 1971 in Moline. He later married Maria Flores in 1977 in Rock Island.

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He worked for Case-IH for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He worked at Project NOW Headstart as a bus driver and loved the children.

He loved the Cubs and the Bears. He enjoyed taking his kids and grandkids to Dairy Queen. He was a member of Colona American Legion Post 1233. He was a Boy Scout leader and a soccer coach. He also was a member of the Silvis Optimist Club.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard (wife, Anna) Bowen, Silvis, Seth Bohnert, Clinton, Iowa; three grandchildren, Alek, Elijah and Adriana Theresa Bowen; and three sisters, Nancy Phouts, Bowling Green, Ohio, Dorothy Sheldon, Colona, and Kay Cook, Colona. He was preceded in death by his parents.
