Jeffrey R. Achilles, 62, ofEast Moline, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Fridayat Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursdayat the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church in Port Byron.

Jeff was born on Jan. 28, 1951, in Moline, the son of Rheinhart and Selma Hoidahl Achilles. He married Stacie Thompson on May 6, 1972, in Port Byron.

He was a vice president at Blackhawk Bank and Trust in Milan. He also was financial secretary for the Peace Lutheran Church for 38 years and served on the Friedens Cemetery board. In his spare time, Jeff was head chore hand at Ruff Kutt Ranch and chief mechanic of his grandchildren's motorized vehicle brigade.

Survivors include his wife, Stacie; children, Mandy (Eric) Tagtmeier, Eldridge, and Matt (Misti) Achilles, Belvidere; grandchildren, Jackson and Kennedy Tagtmeier and Addison, Grace and Payton Achilles; sisters, Suzanne (Mike) Bender, East Moline, Rochelle (Roger) Gunneman, Hampton, and Patricia (Vern) Race, Rock Island. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents.
