Michael King

Mike King, 55, formerly of East Moline, died March 8, 2006 in Beech Grove, Ind.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a Masonic service will be held at 4:30 p.m. by Moline Doric Lodge 319. A memorial fund has been established. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Mike was born June 26, 1950, in Rock Island, the son of Ernest and Lenore King. Mike graduated from United Township High School in 1969, and entered the US Air Force. In the early 1970s, he went to work at the former International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island, until its closing. At that time, he went to work as a security officer for eight years at the Quad City Downs, East Moline. In 1994, he moved to the Indianapolis area to continue employment with Navastar for a total of 33 years.

Michael belonged to many area clubs throughout the years, including the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Moose, the Moline Masonic Lodge and Kaaba Shrine.

Survivors (and spouses) include his daughter and son-in-law Renee and Brian McCoy, Dubuque, Iowa; mother, Lenore King, Moline; grandchildren, Morgan, Grant, Jackson and Noah; a sister, Mary (Bill) Hallgren, Coal Valley; a brother, Pat (Karen) King, East Moline; and his best friend Harold Lerschen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest, and a sister, Collette Sheeder.
