I remember LaRona with great fondness. She joined us in Miss Klute's homeroom when the new East Side opened. She was very smart and went on to get a Doctorate in Education. Over the years our paths crossed several times. Her cousin, Ray Brewer (who she called Suge--short for Sugar) and his wife, Joyce, bowled on our Sunday night bowling team for about 20 years. I ran into LaRona and her sister, Stephanie, a couple of times at the Casino Queen. Each time I would see her I always got a big smile and a hug.
LaRona was an asset to her community and to School District 189 and she will be missed. I know I will miss seeing her again.
