Michael H. Miller, age 73, of Edina, MO, passed away Saturday evening October 12, 2024, in Caring Hearts and Hands House in Columbia, MO.
Mike was born in Lebanon IN, January 10, 1951 to Norma Ethel Leckbee and Alvin Henry Miller.
Mike attended Novelty Grade School and Knox County High School.
In 1971 Mike married Martha Kay Overstreet. To this union two sons were born, Nickey Lee Miller and Kevin Dwayne Miller.
Mike served two years in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. After discharge from the Army Mike worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, IL for three years.
Mike came back to Missouri to attend college in Kirksville. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University). Mike worked as a respiratory Therapist in training while attending college. He received his certification in Respiratory therapy from California College of Respiratory Therapy. Mike continued to work in Respiratory therapy working in several hospitals but the majority was at Northeast Regional Medical Hospital in Kirksville, MO. He worked for Collins Rentals overseeing the medical side.
He started Sun Tec Home Respiratory Care taking respiratory care into people’s homes. While doing all this Mike also coached boys’ baseball for several years. Mike loved his work and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Kay Miller of Edina, MO, one son Nick Miller and his wife Ann of LaBelle, MO, three grandchildren Cassie Miller Hughes and husband Jeffrey, Madsen Beau Miller and Jane Miner, great granddaughter, Zelda Anne Marie, three sisters Linda Beckler and husband Perry, Nelda Aldridge and husband Billy, Dora Kingsley and husband Rick and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and one son Kevin Miller.
Mike will be cremated. Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Private graveside services will be held later in the Novelty Cemetery.
