
David Ray Pinson,72, of Edina, Missouri, passed away March 14, 2024 following a courageous, hard fought battle of pancreatic cancer.
David was born July 26, 1951, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Jesse and Patricia (Day) Pinson.
He married the love of his life, Karen (Ingles) May 8, 1971 and to this union, 2 daughters were born.
David graduated from Knox County High School in 1969 and worked at various jobs including; Edina Rock Quarry, Edina Farm and Home, Solar Gas, Carpentry, Johnson Pinson TV and Electrical and Cable TV. In 1986, he opened his own business, Pinson Plumbing and Electric, in Shelbyville, MO. David enjoyed 37 years working in Shelby County and the surrounding areas. He was an efficient, hard worker and loved every minute of his job. He didn’t see it as work and enjoyed helping his customers, many who became dear friends.
As a young man, David was active in fast and slow pitch softball, Edina PTO league volleyball, Tae Kwon Do and flying ultralight gliders. He was very involved in his daughter’s lives. He coached softball for both of them from a very young age. He loved his Edina Gator’s softball teams and organized many events/teams as the Edina softball commissioner. David also served many years as youth leader at Edina Baptist Church; which, resulted in taking many kids to Kirksville to participate in the Sports for Christ Retreat. He also served as Edina PTO president and helped organize several Halloween parties/events. David supported his children in 4-H where he was leader of Geology and lead some exciting trips looking for rocks. He also was an after Prom volunteer for both his girls.
David’s greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and was an amazing influence in all their lives. They enjoyed many camping trips, vacations, boating, card games, hitting/shagging softballs, kickball games, and spending time/working on the Yoakum farm.
David was an avid reader and history buff. He enjoyed watching war movies, Fox News and was a life long Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen of 52 years. Daughters, Cheri (Darin) Yoakum of Hurdland, MO, Kim (Brenton) Hudelson of Old Monroe, MO; grandchildren, Tori Yoakum of Columbia, MO, Madison (Dane) Hubbard of Hurdland, MO, Ethan Gudehus and step-granddaughter Alexandra Hudelson both of Old Monroe, MO; his mother, Patricia Pinson of Edina, MO; his siblings: Alan Pinson of Comfort, TX, Linda (Roger) Shultz of Maywood, MO, Rick (Kathy) Pinson of Edina, MO, John (Kelli) Pinson of Edina, MO and Marsha (Randy) Lewis of Naples, FL; brother-in-law, Melvin “Joe”(Leslie) Ingles of Columbia, MO, sister-in-laws, Sheilah Ingles of Columbia, MO and Dianna Duvall of Russellville, MO; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many good friends.
He was proceeded in death by father, Jesse Pinson; brother, Tommy Pinson; nephews, Scott and Josh Pinson; father-in-law, Melvin Ingles; mother-in-law, Sharron Crane and niece, Kacea Duvall.
David was cremated and a celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Bethel Christian Church in Bethel, Missouri followed by the family receiving friends after the service until 5:00 p.m. We would like to honor David by having guests at his celebration of life to wear KC Chiefs or STL Cardinals gear.
