Marston, Stephen B., Age 65, of Edina, passed away June 12, 2019. Steve was born November 15, 1953 in Akron, Ohio, to Roy H. & Marion (nee Bazley) Marston. After moving to Minnesota at age 16, he discovered his lifelong passion for law enforcement while still in high school. After graduation he studied at Ashland College (now University) in Ohio for two years and transferred to Michigan State University to complete a degree in criminal justice. Two weeks after his arrival on campus, he met the love of his life, Susan. In his entire adult life, Steve only worked for the city of Edina, first as a dispatcher then police officer, retiring in 2005 as a sergeant. He then worked part-time at Fred Richards Golf Course and again as a dispatcher. He finally retired fully in 2017, after 40 years of service to the city. Steve loved to golf, having learned as a child when his family home backed up to a course. He was a trivia master, knowledgeable in many subjectsparticularly history, geography, and military campaigns and was once on the list to become a Jeopardy contestant. He loved dogs, especially his Labrador retrievers. He had a quick wit and wicked sense of humor. Patient and kind, Steve will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Steve is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Susan; son Christopher; daughter Elizabeth (Todd) Hallack; and granddaughter Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Scott B. and Roy H. "Buck" Marston. A celebration of Steve's life and memories will be held Monday, July 22, 2 PM at the Braemar Golf Course clubhouse, 6364 John Harris Drive, Edina. Memorials preferred to the Edina Crime Prevention Fund; the American Diabetes Association; or donor's favorite charity. The family requests no flowers.
