George Green
June 29, 1954 - January 18, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of one of our brothers, our friend, our coworker, Cpt. George Green. After having suffered numerous injuries as the result of a collision while on duty Oct. 25, Green died the following day. He takes with him years of dedicated, professional service for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, an organization he served for 31 years.

"We are all devastated over the news of Cpt. Green's death," said Col. Van M. Guillotte, chief of the highway patrol. "He will be remembered as a strong, stable leader who proudly served the citizens of the state of Oklahoma. We offer our support and sincere condolences to his friends and family, as well as to those who served directly with him."

With a bachelor's degree earned from the University of Central Oklahoma, Green was accepted and graduated from the 37th Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy in 1979. He served in various assignments throughout his career as trooper, lieutenant and most recently, captain. Oklahoma City, Tonkawa, Tulsa and Barnsdall were some of the locations in which he served, and he was assigned to both the Lake Patrol section and the Kilpatrick, Cimarron and Turner turnpikes. He was a firearms instructor, certified scuba diver and an advanced instructor of Certified Law Enforcement and Education Training.

He is survived by his wife Susan and two adult sons, Patrick and John.

"It is a sad day for the highway patrol, and a sad day for the citizens of Oklahoma. We have lost one of the patrol's finest whose professional and personal contributions will not soon be forgotten," said Guillotte.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Olivet Baptist Church, 155 North 65th West Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Floral arrangements may be sent to Mobley-Dodson Funeral Home at 211 East Broadway, Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

George and I were pledge brothers at UCO in Kappa Sigma.  We were lined up and given pin numbers by our grade points, he and I were the last two in the line!!  AEKDB my brother in fraternity, life and law enforcement; the thin blue line is a little thinner now without Trooper Green, and the public has one less protector...........10-7 brother

It was due to hearing George was a highway patrol trooper in the Tulsa area that kept me from speeding. Since I was a goober in high school to him, I was afraid he'd double my speeding ticket. He was a great guy - my heart goes out to his family!

Early in my career as a law enforcement officer George came to my aid like the cavalry.  A finer man never lived, I will miss him terribly.  I will see you in heaven George, like we say in the Marines you are one of the Few and the Proud “Si
