In Memory

Judy North (Schramayr)

Judy North (Schramayr)

   Judy North Schramayr            March 21, 1946 — July 2022

Beloved wife of the late Ernst Schramayr. Devoted mother to Mark and Marcia Ososke of Oregon. Caring stepmother to Ernie (Leisa), Stefanie (Jeff Thomas) and Susan (Ian Cully). Grandmother of Mitchell and Mackenzie, and step grandmother to Lyric, Russell, Justus, Olive, and Erica, in whom she delighted. Judy was born in California to Charles North and Eileen Sabin. The middle of 3 siblings, Judy was predeceased by her younger brother Jay and Older brother Darryl.

Judy's early years were spent riding her horse, creating ceramics, writing poetry, and sailing with family. Later moving to Portland, Oregon, she earned two college degrees while raising two young children as a single mother, and founded a highly successful private investigations firm, owned, and operated today by her son. Judy was a passionate world traveler, animal lover, golfer, historian, and gardener, happiest when near flowers or water. She spent decades devoted to researching genealogy and was an active member of the daughters of the American Revolution.

Upon her marriage to Ernst, the great love of her life, they moved to Ennismore, Ontario and proudly obtained Canadian Citizenship. Judy was a true original; a spirited personality always ready to accept a challenge and voice an opinion. She was a kind and concerned individual who embodied perseverance and courage. Judy welcomed opportunities to embrace other cultures, religions, and perspectives. She will be sorely missed by all, including her many friends, golf buddies, and curling team members.

If so wished, contributions in her honor may be made to the Stroke Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. As per her wishes, a colorful Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Online condolence may be expressed at www.ashburnhamfuneral.com

So sad to lose another classmate! Reality check I guess! I remember Judy so well, but it is fascinating to read "the rest of the story!"  I remember her as a pretty quiet girl. To see her described as "always ready to voice her opinion" makes me smile. We were all just kids then. Amazing things were to follow. Blessings on all the family, and thanks for sharing.

Judy was such a wonderful person to know in high school, and also many years later when looking for '64 classmates to let them know of upcoming reunions, I would always be able to connect by phone with Judy and have wonderful and interesting catch-up conversations. She was smart, kind and funny. Great combination. Her obituary says it all, doesn't it. It is so very sad to see that she is gone now. ~Linda Massey

When I first moved to Edmonds in the sixth grade and I was the "new kid," Judy and I became good friends.  We lived in Twin Maples and she lived down the road, in Woodlake.  We had many adventures together, including camping out in a pup tent.  I always remember the huge slug that was in my shoe the next morning when we woke up.  Judy didn't flinch, she took care of it!  She was always full of moxie, as the obituary makes very clear. By the time we were at EHS, we'd gone our separate ways but Judy and I always had a special connection whenever we ran into each other.  My thoughts go to her family on the passing of a quiet dynamo.  Lois Salisbury

Some years ago I received a phone call from Judy.  She had been searching through who knows how many Davises in Pennsylvania looking for me.  We were both shocked, I know, to realized she finally had the correct EHS classmate!  She had taken pains to reach out in reference to a reunion (50th?).  I was so touched by her diligence, surprised that she remembered me, and delighted by the reminiscences we shared.  I remember her well through band and orchestra and her good humor.  RIP, Judy.  broken heart
