Obituary for Mark Westerfield
Mark Westerfield passed away on April 8, 2025 in Portland, Oregon. Born on May 16,1948 in Lewistown, Montana, he lived his school years in Edmonds, Washington, and graduated from Edmonds High School in 1966. Mark is survived by his wife Carolyn Westerfield who he met in high school. Upon graduating from Washington State University, he was swiftly drafted into the army during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged as a conscientious objector. His careers spanned from saddle-making to restaurant management to public school teaching and administration to business ownership. He was a cowboy at heart, a passionate fisherman and hunter, and he loved and was very proud of his family - his two children, four step-children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. His heart was generous. He loved to tell stories, a few tall tales, and plenty of dad jokes. He loved to travel, including favorite destinations like Yellowstone National Park, Montana, Tuscany, Hawaii, and Mongolia. Donations in his memory can be made to “Tunnel to Towers Foundation” (with an A+ CharityWatch rating) which honors our military and first responders who make deep sacrifices for our country.
