In February 2006, Master Corporal Raymond Arndt, a reservist and member of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, went to Afghanistan as part of Operation Archer. Ray, who was a husband to Darcia, son to Walter and Shirley, and brother to Juanita, Amanda and Patricia, selflessly volunteered for this mission so that he could do his part to make the world a better place. Ray lived by the philosophies of leave no one behind and always do your best. Unfortunately, Ray was killed in Afghanistan on August 5, 2006
