In the event that a bus trip to EAFB happens, may I suggest that the route be via the Sierra Highway? I know that the "new" freeway is quicker but it did not exist while we lived on base. We, Zacardi, Kirkpatrick, Witizen, and Boyette spent HOURS carpooling from the base to AVC. A good reunion should reunite not only people but include, as much as possible, the places of "our time."  John

I understand what you are saying John.  However, there are not a lot of landmarks remaining on Sierra Hwy from Lancaster to Rosamond, just memories.  The Lancaster Drive In Theater is no longer standing. The Goodyear test track was taken over by the expansion of the water treatment plant. The old canals of Thompson's Water Ski Park at W. Ave E, can still be seen from Hwy 14.

You may want to take a side trip on your own to Ave H east and 110th street east.  The old Hideaway restaraunt sign is still standing though very faded.  The restaraunt/bar was converted into a private residence many years ago.  The Hideaway was a popular hang out for east side ranchers as well as many Edwards AFB residents.

Another Kodak moment opportunity would be the 'Kill Bill Church' further east in High Vista.  East Ave G and 200th street East.

Please feel free to contact me.
