Herbert Vernon

12/19/1942 - 11/30/2015

Herbert “Bear” Leroy Vernon, 72, of Wharton passed away November 30, 2015, in a local hospital after a long illness. He was born December 19, 1942, in North Zulch, Texas to Emmanuel Le Vernon and Edith May Stancliff.

We’re going to miss our daddy more than we know how to deal with right now. We know that our dad had his faults, but he was a good man. He made sure he raised his five kids and then stayed for as long as he could to take care of their momma. Herbert and Betty were married 53 years. History always asks about our legacies, well our dad’s legacy is his six kids, eight grandkids and seven great-grandkids. What else can a person ask for in their life? We love our daddy and we’re going to miss him so very much.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Betty Konvicka Vernon of Wharton; daughters, Deborah Bacon and husband Jim of Wharton, Rhonda Mahon and husband Lee of El Campo, and Sandra Brewer of Wharton; son, Lloyd Vernon and wife Leighann of Rivera; daughter, Robin Mosier and husband Brian of Beasley, eight grandkids, seven great-grandkids; sister Delores Hardin and brothers, Perry, Virgil and Raymond Vernon.

He is preceded by his parents; son, James Vernon and brothers, Charles, Carlton, Marvin and Aubrey Vernon.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be mailed to Betty Vernon, 4580 Baldwin Dr., East Bernard, TX  77435.
