Mary Lou was a good friend in high school and college.  Her first husband George Vaughan and my husband Don Evans were good friends.  When she and George divorced, Mary Lou moved away and we lost touch.

I am sad to hear of her death.   Her mother, Dorothy Lambka, died recently at age 90 and that's where I found Mary Lou had pre-deceased her mother.  I then looked her up under her married name, Davis, and found the obit in Albuquerque where she died in September, 2007, of cancer.

I remember in high school she was in journalism and could really write a good piece.  I understand she got into radio and tv marketing which would suit her well.  She could also sew and used to hem my too-long skirts for me for a price!  She drove a small car--English something.

May she rest in peace and may God's eternal light shine on her!

I had so looked forward to seeing Mary Lou at reunion and was deeply saddened to learn she had passed away. Although we were not very close at Austin, we had attended Morehead Elementary School together and in fourth grade were members of the "Talking, Eating Club". She would take a bus to my house along with several other girls in our class. If you can imagine a bunch of nine-year-old girls pooling our pennies and going to the corner Mom & Pop store for tootsie rolls, Mary Janes and button candy. Then we'd all return to my house where we'd meet in our living room and eat our candy and talk. We never seemed to run out of topics and the time was always too short before the girls who took the bus had to leave and the meeting would end. Mary Lou was the only one of the club who also went to Austin and it was always comforting to have her there.

Mary Lou Lambka was my first date.  Somehow our parents knew each other and Mary Lou had some function where she needed an escort.  I was it.  My parents took me to Union Fashion to buy a suit.  And my mother was insistent that I give Mary Lou a wrist corsage.  I mostly hung around the punch bowl and avoided anything that looked like dancing.  But I did have my first date.  Bob Blystone  May 2017
