I REMEMBER GRADUATION NIGHT OF MAY 25TH, 1961 BEING ON THE FIELD IN LINE FOR OUR DIPLOMAS AND BETTY SAYING TO ME "CONGRATULATIONS FRANK" IN THE DEEPEST VOICE I HAD EVER HEARD FROM FROM A GIRL...FRANK JURADO JR.
I best remember Betty Thomas from a summer 1959 bus tour of the El Paso Science Seminar, in which Tom Baird and Palm Lynn Ross also participated. We went to Big Bend Park, the Sid Richardson Carbon Black Company, several oil, gas, refinery, and synthetic rubber plants, etc. I developed a crush on her during the trip, but she did not seem to reciprocate (sigh).
I have such fond memories of Betty Jane. She had to pass my house on the way to school so when we had the same start time we would often walk together. We always had so much fun and laughed easily. Troubles just melted and the world seemed a better place when she was around.
