Michele Casteel (Amezcua) Yes, it was fun listening to everyone's stories and giving Missy a hard time. I'm glad I was able to make it this time. Too bad I missed out on hanging with Alfonso thanks to losing my phone for so long. Wahh! :-( I missed out on hanging with Lisa Cardenas for the same reason. I think I need the "Clapper" for my phone. Do they still make that?

Well, living in Houston was a choice I made several years ago and I have seen a lot of things here but I have never experienced something like we did last Saturday. Thank God that all my family and friends here including Evelyn Marquez and Victor Nunez are doing ok. I still need to check on Alfoso Munoz. Does anyone know his number? Mario, is Javier and Jake ok? We chose to stay and wait it out because we do not live too close to the water but as Chris says the people of Galveston were hit really hard and most of the island was flooded. There were boats that floated all the way to the highway towards Houston. We also got really strong winds up here in north Houston with wind gusts up to 110 mph in some places. As I told Mireya in an email to her just today it was pretty scary because we could here the sounds of the wind howling past our home, trees blowing over and the rain hitting the windows almost breaking them. Obviously, Galveston was devastated and there is no telling when they will be back to normal if ever but in Houston, there were over 2.6 million people without power due to the storm and over 80% of that number still don't have power today and it may take up to 2 weeks before they get it. I stayed up most of the night while the hurricane passed Houston because the strong winds in my area started around 12:00 AM and didn't slow down until around 8:00 AM. Then while I was driving around the next day there were trees and traffic lights everywhere that were broken and some even taken right out of the ground from the wind gusts. It was a scary experience and we are seriously thinking of leaving Houston for a few days the next time one comes here.

Michele Casteel (Amezcua) Wow. That's crazy. I'm very blessed to never have experienced anything like that. God willing, everyone is okay. Lorena might have Alfonso's number. She hung out with him when he came in town for the Longhorn/ Miner game.

We are doing just fine, no real damage except a broken fence. We faired very well compared to some and we are very grateful for that. Even though this was only a cat 2 storm it was pretty powerful and I'm about 60 miles inland. Trees are down everywhere you turn; it looks like a war zone. We are not expected to have power for a couple of weeks so we are running a generator for now. But no need to fear we are doing great we just need to help those less fortune than we are. Thanks for asking Melissa.

Sounds good to me Adriana. I just need to check the plans for my Moms birthday if we go to 101 this weekend but I think I can make it even if we celebrate on Saturday. I'll just show up a little late. Don't forget about Missy, Carl, Michele, Jeff, Janice, Patsy, Fernie, Raquel, Arlissa, Roger, David and everyone else that is in El Paso. Mike is not here so I will need someone else to criticize my dancing.

This Saturday 09/20/08 101 will have:
202 playing out on the patio.
Inside will be the same great Saturday Retro Night.

Carl Manning I am scheduled to work "bar checks" this Saturday from 9:00 pm till midnight. I can always stop by while on duty and shut the place down for over-crowding or locked exits.. Then you all can have the place all to yourselves. I will see if I can make it when I'm off work at midnight or next week, too. Let me know.
