TX Fire Captain Dies after Motorcycle Wreck

June 07--An El Paso firefighter captain died on Tuesday following a motorcycle accident Sunday, El Paso Fire Department officials confirmed.

Alejandro Gallardo, 48, was the captain for El Paso Fire Station 19, 2405 McRae on the East Side, Enrique Aguilar, a spokesman for El Paso Fire Department said. Gallardo first joined the department in 1997, Aguilar said.

According to El Paso Police Department, Gallardo was driving a 2004 Honda VTX motorcycle at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday on Vista Del Sol when he struck a raised curb and he fell from the motorcycle. Police said Gallardo suffered severe head injuries. Gallardo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.

Go Fund Me account has been created to assist Gallardo's family with medical and funeral expenses. According to the account, Gallardo is survived by three sons.
