High Flight Poem by John Gillespie Magee Jr Print Poster - Etsy UKI think this poem describes our dear friend Clark. He will be missed. I hope that it will comfort his wonderful wife Sue to know that Clark was loved, cherished and admired by his classmates for his friendship, kindness and his stories and photos of his flying adventures.

I'm very sorry to hear of Clark's passing. I've known him since I was 12 or 13 years old. He was alway a pleasant, motivated individual. He certainly lead a productive life. My sincere sympathy to Sue, Skip and the other members of Clark's family.

While I did not know Clark in high school, I got to know him quite well as he and Sue attended all of the Irvin Alumni Mini-Reunions and Rendezvous except for last year.  Clark was one of the nicest and most interesting persons I have ever known. He will be sorely missed at our future get togethers.  The many fond memories he left us will help ease the pain of his passing. Our condolences to Sue and the family.  Rest in peace dear Friend.  Bryson McCool

Clark and I only became friends since the Minis started.  Over the last few years we had lots of contact.  Given that I was in South America for 15 years, it turned out that we had lots in common because he used to fly to all of the airports I was familiar with (Lima, Quito, La Paz, Bogota for example).  He recently completed a home-grown aircraft and I teased him because the cockpit controls were computer screens.  During my time, cockpits were full of knobs, levers, buttons, switches and dials.  Not long ago he flew from home to Alaska and kept me (and others) up to date with a travel/flight log.  Very interesting stuff.  As a final thought: Clark soloed in El Paso before he got his driver's license.  Going to miss him, for sure.  Our best to his wife and family.

Clark was a WSMR kid ( White Sands Missle Range). When he entered our eight grade classroom we thought he looked like Superman tall, with jet black hair. He did develop those traits with his ability and love of flying, service to others and love for his wife Sue and family. What a joy to have the loves of your life flying and Sue with you . We will miss you but know you are soaring high and watching over your loved ones. a life well lived.
