CLEVELAND JACKSON OBITUARY

 

ELKHART - Cleveland Earl Jackson, 71, of Elkhart made his transition at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Cleveland was born on May 16, 1950, in Covington, Tennessee, to Herman and Mae Ruby (Malone) Jackson. The family relocated to Elkhart when Clee (as he was affectionately called) was young. He attended Pierre Moran Junior High School and graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1970.

Cleveland worked at the Elkhart Hotel and later at Dexter Axle where he was a faithful employee for 35 years until he retired.

Cleveland loved his family and was a devout Christian who shared everything he had with others. He was also a single father and raised his sons (DeWayne and Maurice) with loving care and devotion from early childhood until they were adults.

He is survived by two sons: DeWayne Jackson and Maurice Jackson of Detroit, Michigan. He also leaves to cherish loving memories, three brothers, James A. (Mae Lois) Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Herman Jackson Jr. of Mason, Tennessee, and Warner Jackson of Elkhart; and three sisters, Joyce Burton, Sandra (Jerry) Conard and Arnita Michelle (Jackson) Vaughn, all of Elkhart.

The funeral service is noon Saturday in Canaan Baptist Church with visitation one before the service in the church. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
