School Story:
I remember June Forsyth coming over and picking me up in her yellow Pinto hatchback so we could go cruising around, and her peeling out right in front of my house! And my Mom asking me later if June could not squeal the tires like that when she comes over (June was 16 and I was 15! ).
I remember eating lunch every day, all 4 years, in High School with Gigi, June, Karene, Amy, Jill, Me and sometimes Karen Lipsky. And every day at Morgan too. That really started in 5th grade at Lincoln school when I met June and Gigi, I already knew Karen and Karene for a long time. I met up with those girls every day, all those years, it sure ment a lot to me!
Mr. Wendel Holmstrom, our Orchestra conductor, had a huge positive effect on my life. With his stories of personal triumph, playing his trombone through adversity. And he would also tell us stories about the adventures he and his twin brother Wayne had, when they were children in the Mid West. I drew lots of inspiration from what he said to us. He had so much Gusto as a Showman. And the presence he had when we were on stage together, wow! He carried us and also brought the music out of us. He always said, if you are going to make a mistake, might as well play out and make a loud one. I still have my violin and play in a musical group.
Susan Redlinger was a real friend to me. We each had a horse and we rode together. Neither of us had a horse trailer, so we just rode our horses down those county roads to where we wanted to go. Glad there weren't that may cars then. I'd ride to her house or she'd ride her horse to my house and we'd ride to the rodeo grounds and ride around there. And we'd ride to Tracy Roebucks house. That was great. Susan and I are still in contact and talk regularly on the phone.
Valerie Charles and I spent a lot of time together. We had some great times and had numerous close calls and incidences. I remember every bit of it with great fondness.
