Elmira: Born June 25, 1951, the daughter of the late H. Mettler and Grace L. (Larcom) Henrich, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital. Her sister, Donna Henrich also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and William Ravert of Elmira, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Bonnie Henrich of Lexington, NC; nephews, W. John (Cecilia) Ravert of Harrisburg, PA and Brett (Helene) Ravert of Pine City, NY; nieces, Angela Hilton of Jupiter, FL and Shari Snowden of Rush, NY; great-nieces, Aliyah Rabino and Sarah Ravert; great-nephew, Nicholas Ravert; along with many cousins and friends. Janice worked for the NYS Department of Corrections and was a dedicated secretary for many years at the Elmira Reformatory. She was also employed at the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA and was dedicated to the animals and the care they received. She was also very instrumental in the Southern Tier Canine Club which was a dog obedience school. Janice will always be remembered for her outgoing spirit

Horseheads - Kathleen A. Buckley Age 66 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Tuesday January 23 , 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre , PA. Kathleen was born in Elmira , NY on November 25, 1951 the daughter of the late Harold and Virginia Pecchio Schrock . She was a graduate of Southside High School Class of 1969. Kathleen was a waitress at Gerould's Pharmacy for many years. She loved and treasured the time she spent at the family cottage on Seneca Lake . Kathleen is survived by her children Shawn Buckley , Kelly Buckley , and Ryan Buckley ; her brothers and sisters : Diane & Bruce Thatcher , Susan & Ralph Church , Hal & Sherri Schrock , Cindy & Mike Dildine , and Ken & Susan Schrock ; many nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends including a close family friend Dorothy Ames

Mary Frances Welch, 64, of Troy, PA passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.
Mary Frances, “Fran” Ashton was born November 29, 1951 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Neil Ashton and Frances (Schaefer) Mason.  After graduation from Southside High School in 1969, Fran graduated from Elmira Business Institute.  On September 9, 1972, she married Rick Welch in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elmira.  Fran was employed by Troy’s District Justice office for over 20 years until retiring in 2007.  In earlier years, she was employed by New York State’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.  Fran was a devoted and very active member of Troy’s St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.
A loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Fran appreciated times shared with the people she loved.   She also was a very organized person and enjoyed many interests including reading, crocheting and playing trivia games.
Surviving is her husband of 44 years, Rick; two daughters, Amanda and John O’Connor of Canton, PA and Kimberly and Brian Tingler of Bethesda, OH; six grandchildren, Brittany, Christopher, Ryan, Noah, Makenna and Lydia; great grandchildren, Bailey, Dakota and Sawyer; siblings, Patricia (William) Mosher of Horseheads, Kathleen (Robert) Frawley of Penn Yan and William (Marcia) Ashton of Elmira Heights, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Benjamin O’Connor and a brother, Neil “Rocky” Ashto

Kelvin Andrew Close ,son of Helen and Hudson Close of Elmira, N.Y, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 18, 2017.  He is survived by a son Zachary Lee Close of Ft. Myers, FL and a daughter Alexis Anne Close of Orlando, FL, former wife, Brenda Lee Close and Many friends and family in Ft. Myers and upstate New York. Kelvin retired  from Dresser-Rand in Painted Post NY after over 40 years of service.  A memorial service will be held in Big Flats NY at a later date.

Elmira,NY - David Michael McGrain "Mikey" Age 68 of Elmira , NY passed away on Wednesday May 30 , 2018 at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Unit in Elmira , NY. David was born March 20 , 1950 in Elmira,NY the son of the late Leland William "Mikey" McGrain and Eloise May "Sally" Walters McGrain. David was a graduate of Southside High School Class of 1969 . He received his Associate's Degree in Drafting from Corning Community College. David was and electrician and member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 241 in Ithaca,NY. He owned and operated Electric One in Elmira , NY for many years. He served his country with The U. S. Navy Reserves "Seabees" and was honorably discharged from The U.S.NAVY on June 7, 1986. Mikey loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. David is survived by his children David J. McGrain of Horseheads,NY , Michelle & Thomas Breitung of Sevierville,TN , and Scott L. McGrain & Jessica Fields-McGrain of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Jeremy & Amber Breitung,Kristyn Breitung,Joshua Breitung,Kaitlynn Breitung ; brothers and sisters: Dan & Donna McGrain of South Carolina, Cinda & Thomas Dodge of Elmira,NY , Gregory & Sheila McGrain of Caton , NY , and Sherry & Randy Ameigh of Elmira, NY ; several nieces,nephews,cousins, and a host of caring friends. It was David's wish that there be no calling hours or services

Anthony Wayne Golden, 61, of South Williamsport, passed away at his home on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

He was born at Elmira, N.Y., on April 25, 1951. He was the son of Paul Francis and Jean Marie (Howe) Golden.

Anthony retired as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service. He was formerly a railroad engineer and was a member of the Catholic faith and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his daughter, Jeanie Hart, of South Williamsport; and two granddaughters, Giavanna and Juliana Hart of South Williamsport. He is also survived by his mother and a brother. Anthony was predeceased by his father.
