MARY JANE CHERKIS STICKLER

Age 72, passed away peacefully at Corning Hospital on Wednesday, May 22, 2025.  Mary Jane was born in Elmira, a daughter of the late Nicholas & Anna Jane Struble Cherkis.  She was predeceased by her husband Steven Stickler in 2017.  Mary Jane is survived by daughter Kelly Stickler with Robert Curren and her sons, Andrew and Colby Moretz...Daughter Lori L. Stickler with her daughter Emily Decker...son Matthew S. Stickler with wife Megan and their children, Kaden and Kylie Stickler and Liam Stratton...great-granddaughters Aubriella Moretz and another on the way...sister Betty Carey...brother Michael Cherkis with wife Mary...and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane enjoyed reading books.  She liked to keep an eye on her neighborhood by sitting on her front porch and watching the traffic of all the neighbors drive by and beep at her.  In earlier years she enjoyed going to NASCAR races with her husband.  Most importantly, Mary Jane loved her family and the time she was able to spend with them.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4-6pm.  A funeral service will follow at 6pm.  Burial will take place Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
