Age 73, passed away unexpectedly at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Monday, September 18, 2017. Tom was born in Elmira, son of the late Charles N. and Dorothea (Tanner) Beecher. He is also predecased by his sister Nancy Cleveland. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Judith Essen Beecher; son and daughter-in-law Thomas Jr. and Sonya Beecher of Howell MI with their children, Finnegan and Keagan; daughter Michelle Beecher of Las Vegas NV with daughter Haley; sister Gail Beecher of Pine City; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Raised in Elmira, Tom was a 1963 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He was a long time electrician affiliated with the I.B.E.W. Local 139 for 50 years. He currently was serving as president of the I.B.E.W. Retirees Club. Active in the community Tom was a member and current board member of the John J. Lee Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was a member of the Friends of the Chemung River Watershed, currently serving as its president. A longimte communicant of St. Mary's Church, Elmira he was active in both the Resurrection and Sunday choirs. Tom loved the outdoors…hunting, fishering, kayaking with Judy, or just enjoying a nice walk. Never one to be idle he had a garden with a homemade greenhouse, and looked forward to every Spring when he would make maple syrup in his homemade sugarhouse. Tom also had a home workshop for puttering in. Family and friends are invited to Tom's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 23, 2017, 1:00 p.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira.
