In Memory

Richard Forman

In Memory of Richard W. Forman, Jr.

Richard W. Forman Jr. passed away in his Reno home Friday, February 17, 2006. He was 34. Richie was born Oct. 25, 1971 in Salt Lake City to Richard W. Forman and Marcia Bradshaw Forman.

Growing up in Ely, he had the opportunity to become a great horseman having been an IQHA Trail Horse and Reigning Champion. He possessed great physical strength and thus excelled in football and wrestling where he earned a spot in the Sertona Classic, a football honor, and a State Wrestling Championship. After graduating high school, he entered a 3-2 program between Occidental College in Los Angeles and Columbia University in New York where he earned two degrees. At Occidental, not only did he receive a B.A. in physics and study Japanese, but he traveled abroad playing rugby for the college. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University, earned his Professional Engineers License in Nevada, and became a partner at Grey & Associates, a civil engineering firm in Reno.

These accomplishments enhanced his basic love of life which was endless. He had a passion for the outdoors where he enjoyed camping, trap shooting, was an avid hunter, and fearless on a snowmobile. To relax, he read endlessly and practiced the martial art of Aikido. One of his favorite memories was the time he spent with his dad restoring a classic ’57 Chevy. He was accompanied everywhere by his German shepherd, Panzer, and the mutt, Buff, whom if you had seen would appreciate Richie’s sense of humor. Those who knew him will never forget that mischievous, innocent look which meant he was up to no good and someone was going to be on the receiving end of a practical joke. Richie’s fun loving spirit will be missed and fondly remembered by his long time friend and companion, Mary Sandoval, his sister, Selena Forman, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Brett.
