Peggy Jo Proctor, age 64, beloved mother, sister, partner, aunt, and grandma, passed away at her home in Westminster on May 27, 2017.
She was the youngest of four children born to Donald and Barbara (Thomas) Wollenhaupt of Englewood, Colorado. She attended Englewood High School and then the University of Northern Colorado where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English. During college, she was a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos and often told stories of hitchhiking from Greeley down to Denver to cheer in the games.
Peggy was a longtime resident of Littleton before recently moving to Westminster to be closer to her grandchildren. Her favorite times in life were those spent with her family and she would go to great lengths to plan memorable adventures. She enjoyed traveling and believed that the journey was just as important as the destination, often choosing to ride a bus or take a train. She loved to spend time in nature – white water rafting, camping, swimming, and watching the stars. She was an avid music lover, a life-long Broncos fan, a fierce Democrat, and lover of all things pelican. She had a quick wit, a generous heart, an independent spirit, and an enduring sense of humor.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister Lynda Wollenhaupt Prien and brother Richard “Ric” Wollenhaupt. Peggy leaves behind her loving family, including her partner Jeffrey T. Roy; daughter Stacey Proctor of Louisville, CO, and son Benjamin Proctor of Seattle, WA; daughters-in-law Jill Proctor and Gabriela Carvalho; and three grandchildren, Calvin Proctor, Hadley Proctor, and Cecilia Carvalho. She will also be dearly missed by her sister Chris Ortiz; brother-in-law Dean Ortiz; nephews Justin Ortiz, Ryan Ortiz, Kevin Ortiz and partner Erika Munter; niece Chondra Prien-Sailer; and great-nieces Chelsea Ortiz, Heather Ortiz, and Dawn Stroh-Ingram.
A celebration of life will be held at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by donating to Children International, Move On, the Democratic National Committee, or another charity. http://darrellhowemortuary.com/obituaries/2017-05/peggy-jo-proctor
