Mabel E Shofner

Mabel Esther Shofner, 60, of Blackduck, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

Private family services will be held in the summer. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

She was born Feb. 12, 1951, to Donald and Dorothy May (Tenney) Shofner in Cresco, Iowa. She was raised in Inglewood, Colo., and attended school there, graduating from high school in 1970. She moved to Omaha, Neb., for a few years, came back to Denver and then lived in Montana. She worked in maintenance at apartment complexes in Colorado and Montana.

She moved to Blackduck in 2004 and had lived at Tender Hearts Assisted Living in Blackduck for the past few years.

She enjoyed collecting items with wolves and eagles on them. She loved practical jokes and going to the casino.

She was survived by her father, of Buffalo, Wyo.; a daughter, Angelique (Rick) Langevin of Buffalo, Wyo.; brothers, Wayne Shofner and Calvin (Shirley) Shofner, both of Blackduck, Robert (Julie) Shofner of West Concord, Minn., and Larry (Mary) Shofner of Weyauwega, Wis.; a sister, Jackie Jensen of Iowa; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, and a brother, David Shofner.
