
David B. Mathus
Asheville - David Burnett Mathus, 45, of 15 Briarcliff Lane, Asheville, died
unexpectedly Thursday, July 10,
2003.
Mr. Mathus was born in Buncombe County and was employed as an automobile mechanic. He loved
bluegrass music and picked the
banjo with the Rocky Creek Band. He was also an avid bow hunter.
He is survived by three daughters, Ashley Mathus and Courtney Mathus, both of Candler, and Kirsten Mathus of Asheville; his
mother, Binnie Fortune Mathus of
Asheville; his father, Hugh Mathus and his wife, Patsy, of Asheville; sister, Terry Mathus Haynes and her
husband, Larry, of Greenville, S.C.; his
paternal grandmother, Sallie Mathis of
Waynesville; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Fortune of
Asheville; Cheryl Mathus, the mother
of Ashley and Courtney; Kim Warren, the mother of Kirsten Mathus, Sean and Colton Warren; two
stepbrothers, Bob Behm of Candler and Kenneth Behm of Marion; and two
nieces, Katrina and Heather Haynes
of Greenville, S.C.
The graveside services will be
held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
