Canton - Paul James "Jamie" Ross Jr., 46, of 317 Sandy Branch Road, Canton, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his home.

Jamie was born Jan. 10, 1958, in Marion. He was the son of Paul James and Ruth Hutchins Ross of Candler. He graduated from Enka High School in 1976 and was a 1978 graduate of Haywood Technical College. He was currently self-employed. Jamie loved life and one of his greatest enjoyments was spending time at Fontana Lake with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, E.J. and Mary Cannon Ross and Belle Hutchins.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his loving wife, Rue Ann Amos Ross of Canton; son, Colby Ross of Candler; stepchildren, Brook Barrett of Fayetteville and Brandon Barrett of Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters, Paula Newland of Canton and Debi Brown of Candler; two nieces, one nephew and many special friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Love officiating. Entombment will be in The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Pallbearers will be Scott Haynes, Steve Carver, Eddie Lovin, Eddie McCurry, Paul Phillips, Randy Swilling, Billy Capps, Jeff Phillips, Steve Brooks, Greg Spann, Bill Owen and Donnie Raines.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
