Marla Jean Carey, 52, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at St. Luci Memorial Hospital in Port St. Luci, Fla., after a short illness.

She was born September 12, 1953 in Erie, the daughter of Emmett and Mary (McEnery) Carey.

She was a 1971 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and had attended Pine Manor Junior College.

Marla Jean loved the ocean and her passion was cooking. Besides her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Shelby Scott; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Maureen Carey; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Richard Layden; along with a niece, Andrea Layden; and a nephew, Ryan Carey, all of Erie. Private Funeral services were held in Port St. Lucie.
