Gregory James Polatas, 47, of Tampa, Fla., died Saturday, May 15, 2004, after a brief illness.

He was born June 21, 1956, in Erie, son of Mary Jo Polatas of Erie and the late James Polatas. He had lived in Florida for 18 years.

A graduate of Strong Vincent High School, he received his degree from Erie Technical School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Metropolitan Community Church in Tampa.
